The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an international Christian ecumenical observance kept annually between Ascension and Pentecost in the Southern Hemisphere and between 18-25 January in the Northern Hemisphere.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, (12-19 May in the southern hemisphere) is an opportunity for Catholics to take up Pope Francis’ challenge to go out to the edges of the Catholic Church and engage with all to whom Christ came.
Prayer is vitally important if the desire for Christian unity is to be achieved.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is celebrated in the Southern Hemisphere between Ascension Sunday and Pentecost, or at any other time that works for churches to plan an ecumenical service.
