This game is based on Luke's account of Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem (Luke 19: 28 - 40) and encourages students to consider the value of sharing.

1. Read Luke’s account of Jesus’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem (Lk 19:28-40), or retell the story using puppets. Discuss as a class: What do people share with Jesus? When do you have to share? Why do we share?

2. Pass the ice cream sharing game. Roll pieces of paper into a ‘cone’ and secure with a single piece of tape. Students pass a ball that is the size of an ice cream scoop from one cone to another around the circle.

3. Place a basket of balls in the centre of the circle. Make sure there is at least one for each child. (Can use scrunched up alfoil)

Ask the class: If we all want to play with these balls, how can we do that? (Move them towards the answer of everyone taking 1 ball each).

Discuss how each student can get their ball (Taking turns).

When everyone has a ball, let them take turns throwing their ball in the basket, one at a time.

Challenge: See if you can make it all around the circle with everyone waiting patiently for their turn.
