Gaming the Gospels: Celebrating who we are

10 January 2022

What does Jesus value about us?

Two or three students will need to prepare this game for the class.

The students should brainstorm some attributes people might have – consider things such as physical traits (people who have red hair) as well as relationships (people who have two sisters, or people who have relatives interstate/overseas), and things that might be a little creative or quirky (people who have ridden on a go kart in the last year). Next to each trait, put a point score – e.g. People who have red hair get two points, etc. The students will then read out the list of traits to the class, and students tally their scores. The student who gets the highest score is the winner of the game.

Now read John 13:14-15. What does Jesus value about us? How is our ‘score’ accumulated with Jesus? Does it depend on anything other than who we are? How can we learn to see other people as Jesus does?
