 ACTIVITIES

Messages from Santa: Write a letter from Santa. What kind of message did you want Santa to say to you when you were younger? Do you have any younger students at your school or in your suburb who you could deliver the letter to as a surprise to brighten their Christmas?

Music Video: With a group of friends, make a Christmas song dance video. What kind of dance moves will you use? Will you film different parts of the dance in different areas and edit it together? Is there a particular Christmas message you want to communicate through your video? Have a Christmas song sing-along night and have everyone sing along with your music videos.

My Christmas: What does getting into the Christmas spirit look like in your family? Maybe it looks like adorning the house in Christmas decorations? Perhaps it involves prayer and fasting for Advent? Could it look like cooking traditional family meals or putting your school uniform in the wash for the last time after the last day of school? Write a ‘Getting into Christmas’ guide including descriptions of your favourite Christmas preparation moments and nostalgic highlights.

Top ten Christmas Hits: Like the author, curate your Christmas by building a list of ten top ‘Get in the Christmas Spirit’ carols or songs. This list might include songs that aren’t Christmas songs, but that remind you of Christmassy times, feelings and experiences.

FOR YOUNGER STUDENTS

Dancing the carols: In a group, make a dance or series of actions to go with your favourite Christmas carol. Have a performance afternoon, where each group can perform their dance to their Christmas carol. Invite family and loved ones along, and give out programs with lyrics to the songs to include family and loved ones in the Christmas action.

Christmas colouring: Here are some Christmas colouring sheets for you to print for your students.
