Editor: Michael McVeigh

Michael McVeighMichael has been the editor of Australian Catholics since 2005. In his time with the magazine, he has interviewed a range of notable Catholics, and written in-depth features on issues including the clerical abuse crisis and the challenging decline in religious vocations. Over the last three years, he has overseen the development of the youth internship program, which offers a group of students the chance to edit one of the magazine’s editions each year. In 2012, the magazine was awarded the Bishop Kennedy Award for the best Catholic magazine in Australia.

Michael is also the Senior Editor at Jesuit Communications Australia.

Editorial Consultant: Fr Andrew Hamilton

Andrew Hamilton

Andrew is the editorial consultant for Australian Catholics, as well as the other publications published by Jesuit Communications. He writes extensively for these publications, and is also involved in mentoring writers, particularly through the internship program.

Andrew taught theology in Melbourne for many years at the United Faculty of Theology.  He has also been involved with refugees, particularly after the Indochinese war, and has written much on refugee policy in Australia. He also works as part of the communications team at Jesuit Social Services.

Assistant Editor: Clare Deignan

Clare Deignan

Clare joined the Australian Catholics editorial team in 2013. She has a background in media and journalism, as well as working previously in Catholic education. As well as assisting on the print magazine, Clare is responsible for compiling and editing the weekly Faith and life e-newsletter, which provides resources and activities for teachers in Catholic schools.

Ann Rennie

Ann Rennie

Ann writes the regular ‘Unguarded moments’ column in Australian Catholics magazine. She is a teacher at Genazzano FCJ College in Melbourne, and has written a number of books bringing together faith and spirituality. Her writing captures the movements of God in people's daily lives, and draws connections between the experiences of Catholics today and those of some of the wisdom figures in our faith.

Michael McGirr

Michael McGirr

A former editor of Australian Catholics, Michael is the Director of Mission at St Kevin’s College in Melbourne. He is an accomplished author, with an ability to highlight both the joyful and the serious sides of faith, often at the same time. His books include Bypass, The Lost Art of Sleep and The Things You Get for Free. He is also the author of Finding God's Traces, a daily reflection book sold exclusively to schools through Jesuit Communications.

Fatima Measham

Fatima Measham

Fatima is a freelance writer with a background in teaching and in Catholic youth ministry. She writes regularly for Australian Catholics and Eureka Street, as well as a number of other publications. She blogs online, and recently undertook a writing fellowship at The Wheeler Centre. Her writing in Australian Catholics includes a number of feature profile interviews, as well as reflections on social justice issues, popular culture and techonology. She was guest editor for our Winter 2012 edition.
