Catholic Teacher: Faith formation resources for Term Three 2020

We’re planning to cover a range of topics in Catholic Teacher this term – drawing on some more articles from our Winter edition, followed by some great features from our Spring edition – which will feature articles and reflections from our young guest editors around the theme of ‘Celebration’.

Here’s an outline of what we have in store for you in Catholic Teacher in Term Three.

23 July – Family life under lockdown

Exploring what brings families together, what’s important in a family, and how families are experiencing the present times.

For AC+ subscribers, we’ll feature some more articles and resources on family life.

30 July – Mary MacKillop and other social justice saints

Exploring the stories of social justice saints, and finding some fun ways to share and celebrate them.

For AC+ subscribers, we’ll feature some more articles and resources ahead of Mary MacKillop’s feast day on 8 August.

6 August – Supporting Australian communities in need

We’ll take a look at Vinnies and the work they do to support people in marginalised communities, which is even more valuable in these present times. We’ll also take a look at the story of St Vincent de Paul.

For AC+ subscribers, we’ll feature some more articles and resources related to the work of Vinnies.

13 August – Imagining a better world

What would your perfect world look like? We’ll ask students to consider that question, and explore some answers in pop culture.

For AC+ subscribers, we’ll feature some articles and resources on migrants and refugees.

20 August – All the world’s a celebration

In an article from the Spring edition, one of our young writers will explore some fascinating festivals and celebrations around the world. We’ll ask young people to consider how they mark important events and moments in their lives. 

For AC+ subscribers, we’ll feature some more articles exploring other cultures and religious faiths.

27 August – Laudato si’ month

Reflecting on our role as stewards of creation, and how we can mark the World Day of Prayer on 1 September.

For AC+ subscribers, we’ll feature more prayers and resources for praying for creation.

3 September – Celebrating sacraments

Sacraments are moments of celebration in our lives. Reflecting on the role the sacraments have played in developing our relationship with God, and our understanding of our place in the world.

For AC+ subscribers, we’ll feature more articles exploring the sacrament of confirmation.

10 September – Funerals and memorials

How to we remember and celebrate the lives of people we have lost? Exploring the role that funerals play in our society and faith.

For AC+ subscribers, we’ll feature more articles and resources helping understand death in the context of our faith.
