The Romero Prayer

Illustration of dove of peaceThis prayer was composed by Bishop Ken Untener of Saginaw, drafted for a homily by Cardinal John Dearden in November 1979 for a celebration of departed priests. It is often and widely shared as 'The Oscar Romero Prayer'. While Archbishop Romero never uttered these words, the prayer itself is a powerful summary of his legacy, and the legacy of all prophetic voices in the Church.
