Since 1993, Australian Catholics has been sharing the stories of Australians, both well known and not-so-well known, and how they live out their faith in their everyday lives.
The magazine is published five times a year. Subscribers include individuals, schools, parishes and other Catholic institutions across the country.
Our Mission
Australian Catholics is about encouraging Catholics from all walks of life to engage more deeply with life. The magazine aims to open up conversations about our world, our society, our families, our values and our faith. We follow people’s struggles as they wrestle with questions about life and meaning, and share stories that open up new possibilities and ideas.
The Catholic Church, and Australian culture in general, has changed drastically over the last few decades. Australian Catholics seeks to promote a viable and vibrant Catholic identity for today, and show that there is still a place for life-affirming values such as love, peace and justice.
Our Team

Editor: Michael McVeigh
Michael has had a long involvement in Catholic ministries in Melbourne,
and began his career in journalism as the editor of the Marists’
Recycle magazine and as an occasional contributor to Australian
Catholics. He has worked as a communications officer for an
international development agency, and in his travels to Africa gained
an insight into the remarkable faith and strength people can have,
despite the terrible circumstances they face. As editor of Australian
Catholics since September 2005, he has continued to pursue his passions
for social justice and helping young people find their place in the
world.

Andrew has taught theology in Melbourne for many years at the
United Faculty of Theology, and has also written extensively for all
the magazines published by the Jesuits. For five years he has combined
his teaching with his position at Jesuit Publications. Andrew has also
been involved with refugees, particularly after the Indochinese war,
and has written much on refugee policy in Australia. He is interested
in encouraging young people to write, and finds his work at Jesuit
Communications very helpful in providing opportunities for young
writers.
