Sponsorship needed

23 August 2018

Schools and parishes are being asked to consider sponsoring one or more Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people to attend the NATSICC Assembly in Perth in October.

The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC) Assembly will be held in Perth from 1-5 October.

The Assembly is designed to enrich, inspire and give voice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics. The theme for this year’s conference is Strong Faith. Strong Youth. Strong Future.

It is a fitting theme as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics is the youngest and fastest growing demographic in the Church.

Schools and parishes are being asked to consider sponsoring one or more Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people to attend the Assembly.

National administrator Craig Arthur says there have been many requests for funding from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics that don’t have the financial means to attend.

‘We don’t make money from the Assembly so the major cost is the travel. To this end we have created a delegate sponsorship program.’

Craig says you can sponsor from your local area or partner with a remote or regional community to support their delegate/s.
