About > Writing for UsREADERSHIPAustralian Catholics is distributed to some 270,000 homes five times per year. We aim to appeal particularly to young people (secondary students) and the families of primary and secondary students. STYLETo address this audience, the language of articles should be straightforward and engaging. The style should be inclusive. Please submit articles rather than reports or essays. The use of dot-points should be reserved for text-box material only. Please avoid any fancy formatting. Single or double spaced in Times 12 point is preferred. CONTENTStories that describe the faith and life of Australians, both those well known and those less familiar are our stock in trade. Australian Catholics is also interested in stories about social justice, and about initiatives that foster an awareness of social justice in schools and communities. In short, we are looking at 'good news' stories. We do not usually print abstract theological articles or stories about church politics. WORD LIMITSPlease keep to agreed word limits. A 1,000 word piece, for example, will generally run to two pages. Articles beyond 1,000 words will only occasionally be considered. RATESWriters' rates are by negotiation and will be agreed at the time of commissioning. Please supply our office with details of your ABN, if available. Any costs you wish to claim in relation to articles should be cleared with the Editor prior to incursion. PHOTOGRAPHSPlease don't ever send images taken with a digital camera. Not ever. In most cases the resolution simply isn't sufficient. Please take images using a print film and send pics by mail. They will be returned once we are at press. Please ensure that you supply an accurate record of your contact details to assist this. When photographing subjects/events, please submit several views such that our designers can decide which will work best in print. NB: Avoid using a felt tip pen on back of photos the ink often marks subsequent pics. COPYRIGHTCopyright for articles and images will revert to the author following publication. We receive numerous requests for articles and images to be reproduced either in whole or in part, and would appreciate being informed at the time of submission, if agreement to such a request is unacceptable to you. Usually it is smaller, local groups who make such requests-editors of school and parish bulletins and the like. All reasonable efforts will be made to contact you in this regard, prior to giving permission to reproduce articles/images. Similarly, articles and photographs and images which appear in Australian Catholics may be reproduced on our web page at www.australiancatholics.com.au. Further payment will not be made for such use. Please advise at the time of submission if you are unhappy with this arrangement. For more information about our copyright arrangements please email me at auscaths@jespub.jesuit.org.au. Thank you for your interest in Australian Catholics and please don't hesitate to contact me if I can clarify any of the above for you. I look forward to working with you.
